Plantion inaugurates multifunctional clock front with LED technology

This morning, the Dutch flower and plant auction Plantion officially took the brand-new P4 LED clock front of 84m² into use. The crystal-clear resolution and the impressive size of the LED screen will greatly enhance the buyers’ perception in the auction room. Thanks to our many years of experience, Aucxis was asked to supply and install this technological masterpiece.

By going for a high-quality LED screen as its clock front, Plantion consciously invests in future-proof physical auctioning. Wide range of possibilities

“In combination with the high resolution of the LED screen (over 5 million pixels) the size of the screen surface (14×6 m) offers many extra possibilities”, he continues. “In addition to the actual sale, there is more than enough space to display product pictures, supplier videos, novelties, etc. Moreover, when no auction is taking place, the multifunctional screen can be used as a TV or presentation surface for conferences.”

Challenging installation

As all three clocks are visualised on one single LED wall, the installation turned out to be a real challenge. E-Trade Business Unit Manager Patrick Bauwens: “To ensure a smooth conversion, we first assembled one clock in our production hall to test it thoroughly and to attune the conversion procedures; then it was disassembled again for transport to Plantion,” he explains. “The screen consists of 648 individual LED frame modules with magnetic bases, which we mounted on a metal base frame in the auction room.”

“Given the fact that the auction process must continue at all times, good planning was crucial. We started with one section, allowing Plantion to test with the third clock; the other two parts were converted in one single weekend. It’s safe to say that our team gets an extra boost from realizing this great project to the full approval of Plantion”, he concludes.
