Passing safely along roadworks thanks to the LED panels on Stuer-Egghe’s roadworks vehicles
In addition to the modernisation of clock fronts with LED technology – for example for the flower auctions Veiling Rhein-Maas and Plantion – Aucxis is also the preferred supplier of the LED panels for Stuer-Egghe’s roadworks vehicles. Since the start of our collaboration in 2016, we reach the mark of 100 delivered panels this year.
Stuer-Egghe is a leading Belgian manufacturer of trailers with traffic lights and traffic warning systems used on the roads. Their vehicles have become a familiar sight during roadworks on our motorways.
In order to inform road users sufficiently in advance and to properly manage traffic, and to protect the roadworkers, it is legally obliged in Belgium to announce (mobile) roadworks by means of traffic signals. In 2016 Stuer-Egghe came to us with the request to elaborate together a concept to provide LED panels on its roadworks vehicles. This pilot project has grown into a standard solution. This year Stuer-Egghe ordered the hundredth panel via a call-off order.
“The LED panel specifically used for the traffic signal solution consists of a P10 module of 160x160mm and has an EN12966 certificate, the standard for LED panels used alongside the motorway,” our E‑Trade Business Unit Manager Patrick Bauwens explains. “Taking into account the varying weather conditions and the vibrations of the road surface caused by the roadworks by the side of the road, it goes without saying that the LED panel is industrially designed.”
The LED solution is very easy-to-use. Stefan Stuer, director of Stuer-Egghe: “The driver of the roadworks vehicle in question operates the LED panel from his cab with a touchscreen: he selects the correct image from an image database, enabling to inform the coming traffic correctly.”
In addition to the solution itself, Stefan Stuer is also very positive about the collaboration with Aucxis. “The difficulty of our application is that it involves more than just the operation of a LED screen”, he explains. “With Aucxis as a supplier, it was possible to collaborate with one single party from A to Z, thanks to which we were able to prepare together the screen as well as the software and the control of the hydraulic valves. In the future we will continue to seek improvements of the application, with the user playing a central role.”
“We are proud that Aucxis can contribute to our daily road safety. And who knows it inspires our auction customers driving along such a panel to contact us regarding additional KOSMOS functionalities”, Patrick Bauwens concludes with a smile.
