Clock front of Veiling Rhein-Maas modernized with LED technology

Veiling Rhein-Maas in Straelen-Herongen, Germany, asked Aucxis to update its clock front containing 8 auction clocks with state-of-the-art LED technology. With an LED wall of 200m², Aucxis has realised one of the largest LED displays in Europe. Every clock is no less than 7,5 m high and 3,5 m wide.

Even in these times of digitisation, the customers of the only flower and plant auction in Germany like to view the product in and around the auction room on site. That is the reason why the management decided to update the entire clock front of eight clocks with the latest LED technology. Previously, the clock circle and all corresponding auction information about the lots was still displayed with ‘running lights’ and text bars on a wooden wall, but in the meantime this technology was severely outdated and end-of-life.

Even though Veiling Rhein-Maas has been taking significant steps in terms of digitisation – its online buying capacity has been expanded substantially in the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic – it was a deliberate choice to invest in physical clocks as well. “The physical clock remains the heart of the auction. It is very important for our customers to see and feel the products live. Before the start of the auction and during the breaks, our customers always walk around in the showrooms”, Günther Esser and Cees Hoekstra, managing directors at Veiling Rhein-Maas, explain.
